Babymetal & Rob Halford – Painkiller, Breaking The Law

When Babymetal devised their metal/Japanese idol hybrid band in 2010, none of the three members (Su-metal, Yuimetal, and Moametal) even knew what metal music was. Now, six years later, they’re covering Judas Priest songs with Rob Halford himself.

Otani Emiri officially leaves Akishibu Project

Today, Miri-nya officially graduates from idol group Akishibu Project. Her departure has already been announced on the 9th March.

Akishibu Project was formed in 2013 with to aim to connect Akihabara with Shibuya culture. As of now, the current members are leader Yuechi, Hinahi, Saorin-nu, Yuunarin, Abuchan, Amirakuru and Miichan.

2NE1: Minzy leaves the group

2NE1’s agency YG Entertainment has announced on the 5th April that Minzy (Gong Minji) has left the group. The contracts of all the members are set to expire in May and so far, the 3 remaining (CL, Dara and Bom) girls have decided to stay with the company whereas Minzy’s contract is not going to be renewed.

CEO Yang Hyun-suk has moreover announced that the group will continue promoting as 3 and that no member is currently being sought in order to replace Minzy.

2ne1-1

The girl group, originally composed of CL, Bom, Dara and Minzy, debuted in 2009 under YG Entertainment, the same label popular boy band BIG BANG is signed under. They have released 2 full albums as well as 2 mini-albums and were primarily known for their strong image and powerful live performances.

The group also has several major hits throughout its career, including “Fire”, “I Don’t Care”, “Can’t Nobody”, “Go Away”, “Lonely” and arguably their biggest success yet, “I Am The Best”.

2014 album “CRUSH” has been their last release, leading to hits such as “Come Back Home” and “Gotta Be You” as well as extensive touring, including concerts outside of Korea.

Their career took a toll during that year however when Bom got involved into an alleged “drug scandal”. Reports were released that 4 years prior to the news, the group’s main vocalist was accused of having smuggled drugs that, according to agency statements, had been prescribed back when she lived in the US, but are illegal in South Korea.

Since then, the group has been inactive as a whole, with the exception of a 2015 MAMA live stage. Leader CL is currently trying to grab a hold in the US whereas Dara has been involved into web dramas. Not much has been heard about Minzy thoughout this time.

Gong Minji debuted at age 16 (Korean age) as the main dancer, lead rapper and later on lead singer of the group. Although the most important vocal song parts were filled out by main vocalist and unique-tone-singer Bom, Minzy was still known among many fans as the member with the better vocal technique. Her vocals were thus used more throughout the later 2NE1 releases.

Fans have been reacting with overflowing support on social media, frequently showing understanding for the singer’s decision based on her lack of opportunities.

On the other hand, the member’s departure hasn’t been devoid of controversy. Shortly after the news, the father posted a cryptic message that has made fans questions the circumstances behind the leave. His post, mentioning the intention to hold “a press conference to release the truth”, has since then been deleted however and replaced with a new message, stating that “he doesn’t want to be misunderstood”.

Fans have been wondering whether Minzy’s departure wouldn’t shed light on other things as well. She is currently looking for a new agency, according to reports.

“Alles beim Alen, Alen” – Freshdax Vinyl Release Party

Den 23. Januar huet d’Lëtzebuerger Hiphop-Formatioun Freshdax hier Vinyl-Release-Party vum neien Album “Alles beim Alen, Alen” an de Rotondes organiséiert. Dëss Veröffentlechung, 2 Joer nom Debut “Ziel mir net däi Liewen”, huet misse gebührend gefeiert ginn, mat Géistack an deem een oder anere Feature inklusiv.

Mr. Charly & De Lux

a0399452678_2

Géint halwer 11 war et sou wäit: Den Optakt huet den Duo Mr Charly an De Lux gemaach. Déi 2 Rapper hunn och schon zesummen e Mixtape erausbruecht a waren hei fir d’Unheize vum Publikum zoustänneg.

“Tëschent Humor a Wourécht”

Als 2. Viroptrëtt huet den Tommek Tracks aus sengem éischte Solo-Album “Tëschent Humor a Wourécht”, deen d’lescht Joer erauskomm ass, performt. Wéi Freshdax gehéiert och hien zu där Sparte an der Lëtzebuerger Rap-Szene, déi statt Swag a Bling-bling op clever Wuertspiller, Ironie a Sarkusmus setzt. Oft ginn Alldagssituatioune wéi an “Vitaminnentherapie” opgeholl, mä och philosophesch oder sozialkritesch Texter, net selten mat engem Aenzwinkern statt “in your face”, gehéiere zu sengem Repertoire.

Trotz gudder Stëmmung huet sech och do de Sall nëmme lues gefëllt, wat laut engem Besucher haaptsächlech dorënner louch, dass tëschent deene verschiddenen Optrëtter ze laang Pause waren. Trotzdem sinn Tracks wéi “Ma so!” a “Mlimli an eng Mötsch” gutt beim Publikum ukomm. Méi roueg goung et bei “Porzeläin” zou, dem nodenklechste Bäitrag vum Album, deen och hei net huet misse fehlen.

“D’Rad net nei erfannen, mä de Pneu frësch oppompelen”

20160123_230233

Vum typesche Mainstream-Ami-Rap-Klischee vu Boobs & ass & 420 club swag, deen oft dorem geeschtert, si mer hei wäit ewech. Mat Witz, Wuertspiller an Ironie gëtt vu Konservatismus bis hin zu Weekend-Revoluzzern a gelangweilt Pinselhausfrae villes parodéiert, kritiséiert an op d’Schëpp geholl.

Bal genau 2 Joer si säit dem Release vum éischten Album “Ziel mir net däi Liewen” vergaang, mä souwuel am Sound- wéi och am flowtechnesche Beräich huet sech den Duo weiderentwéckelt. Nach ëmmer kléngt dat Ganzt “sou relax”, mä ween tëschent den Zeile liest, erkennt och déi schaarf Kritik, déi Freshdax besonnesch un der lëtzebuergescher Gesellschaft ausüben.

20160123_225941

Niewent Tracks vum neien Album goufen och eeler Hits wéi “D‘Spillplaz”, “Sprang drop” an e Remix vun “Der Mamm hiere Beschten” performt.

20160123_225906

Et gouf vill Applaus deen Owend. Déi 2 Memberen hunn ëmmer erem mat hieren Intermezzi tëschent de Lidder fir Stëmmung gesuergt an d’Leit zum Matmaache bewegt.

As the real-life version of the fictional idol group μ from the Love Live! anime, the unit has been holding several concerts and live shows, among which was last year’s “μ’s Go→Go! LoveLive! 2015 ~Dream Sensation!~”, and is going to release its final single on 2 March. In addition, the contracts of the 9 voice actresses are set to expire around the end of March, which led to rumors about a disbandment coming up.

lovelive-live-2015-13

Said rumours were however denied by  μ’s center Emi Nitta who clarified that “μ’s Final Love Live!” would “only be their final concert by themselves” and that the group wasn’t breaking up. Nico Yazawa’s voice actress Sora Takui added that the show was planned as a “culmination of their work”.

Fans have been relieved to hear about the disbanding rumors being denied, but were left wondering whether the statements were implying future performances with μ’s successor group from Love Live! Sunshine, Aquors.

In anticipation of the final concert  “LoveLive! μ’s FINAL LoveLive! μ’sic Forever♪♪♪♪♪♪♪♪♪”, the 9 members have launched a “LoveLive! μ’s Thank You Project ~Road to μ’sic Forever~” for their Japanese fans, which includes screening events in Japanese theaters, special broadcasts and programs for regular and premium Bandai Channel users alike as well as the release of 3 Love Live! books.

History of Nightwish.

Nightwish is a symphonic metal band from Kitee,Finland. The band was formed in 1996 by lead songwriter and keyboardistTuomas Holopainen, guitarist Emppu Vuorinen, and lead singer Tarja Turunen. The band soon picked up drummer Jukka Nevalainen, and then bassist Sami Vänskä after the release of its debut album, Angels Fall First (1997). In 2002, Vänskä was replaced by Marco Hietala, who also took over the male vocalist role previously filled by Holopainen or guest singers.

Although Nightwish have been prominent in their home country since Angels Fall First, they did not achieve worldwide fame until the release of the albums:

  • Oceanborn (1998),
  • Wishmaster (2000)
  • Century Child (2002).

Their 2004 album, Once, has sold more than one million copies and was the band’s breakthrough in the United States.

Tarja Turunen left the Band 2005. Her last performance with Nightwish was during a concert recorded for the live album/DVD End of an Era.

In May 2007, Nightwish announced Anette Olzon as Turunen’s replacement. That September, the band released their sixth album, Dark Passion Play, which has sold almost 2 million copies. The album’s lead single, “Amaranth”, became one of Nightwish’s most successful in Europe.

On October 1, 2012, Nightwish announced that they had parted ways with Olzon and would be finishing the current tour with ReVamp and former After Forevervocalist Floor Jansen.

In October 2013, Nightwish made Jansen and longtime session uillean pipes player Troy Donockley permanent members of the band, and they were featured in the acclaimed album Endless Forms Most Beautiful, released in March, 2015.

Tuomas Holopainen songwriter and keyboardist talks about there work with Richard Dawkins and how it was to work on Imaginaerum.

Interview with the Luxembourgish Metal Band Mindpatrol

Mindpatrol is a Luxembourgish Progressive Metal band, founded in summer 2012 by Luc François and Xavier Hofmann as a studio project. The band only writes concept albums with the intention of narrating thrilling and entertaining stories. Shortly before the digital release of their first album Downfall Theatre in late 2013, the studio project became a real band. In January 2014, the digipack-version of the album was released.

After some changes in their line-up, Mindpatrol are now six young musicians aged between 19 and 24 years. While their first album Downfall Theatre was more of an experiment, its successor The Marble Fall is a lot darker and more structured. By illustrating fascinating concepts and stories with their music, Mindpatrol want their music to be a fresh impact on the metal genre.

Iron Maiden tours gaming history in their New Video ‘Speed of Light’

Iron Maiden have premiered the video for “Speed of Light,” the first single from their upcoming 16th studio album, the double-disc set The Book of Souls.
Iron Maiden is one of the most prominent bands of all time. Formed in London in 1975, their 37 album discography makes them synonymous with the UK’s heavy metal scene.

The video was produced and directed by Llexi Leon, with animation and visual effects by the Brewery Production Company. In a statement, the band said that the clip “is a ‘homage’ to four decades of video gaming, alongside Iron Maiden’s 40 years of incredible visuals centering on their talisman, Eddie the Head, as he travels through space & time to complete his mission.

Eddie starts out digitising himself before materialising in an 8-bit era pixel art world, equal parts inspired by Donkey Kong, Fast forward to a SNES-style run-and-gun shooter — shades of Robo-cop vs Terminator, then to a Mortal Kombat style beat-’em-up and in the end with a Skyrim or Fallout 3 ego person modern setting.

Speed of Light will be appearing on The Book of Souls, their 16th studio album, out on 4 September.
